Standard Materials
The system uses the Standard Materials and Standard Operations forms for costing purposes.
Use the Roll Current Cost to Standard Cost utility for items using Standard costing. This utility copies the information on the Current Materials form to the Standard Materials form. You usually run the Roll Current Cost to Standard Cost utility periodically, such as once a year.
When you set the Calculate Variances Against field to Standard on the General Parameters form, the system uses Standard costs for calculating variances and report costing.
These tabs are used on this form:

Costs tab: Use the Roll Current Cost to Standard Cost utility
for items using Standard costing. You usually perform this function
periodically, such as once a year. This utility copies the information
on the Costs tab of the Current
Materials form to the Costs tab on
the Standard Materials
form. Throughout the remainder of the period, the system uses
the Standard information (displayed on the Standard
Materials Costs tab) for calculating variances and reporting
costing. The system uses the Current Materials
and Current Operations forms for costing
purposes only.
Note: You can update the Costs tab at any time without affecting its Standard counterpart. The system only updates the Standard Materials form's Costs tab if you rerun the Roll Current to Standard Utility.
When copying to a job, a production schedule, or an estimate, you must use the Current Materials and Current Operations forms as the template.
Note: All fields on the Standard Materials form's Costs tab default from the Current Materials form's Costs tab when you perform the Roll Current Cost to Standard Cost utility. - Materials tab: All of the fields on this tab default from the Current Materials form's Materials tab when you perform the Roll Current Cost to Standard Cost utility.
- References tab: Use this tab to maintain information about each material. This information is for reference purposes. This tab allows you to enter one record for each quantity listed on the Standard Materials form's References tab. For example, if you enter a quantity of four, enter four reference records.
