Distribution Accounts

Distribution accounts are a set of accounts grouped by warehouse and product code.

The in-transit accounts are used when creating transit type item locations. Use the Product Codes form to define a set of default In-Transit Inventory Account numbers by product code and warehouse. These accounts are used when creating transit type item locations.

Note:  For items that you want transferred using transfer orders, you must have a location established which is a transit location.

The inventory accounts are used when adding new item stockroom locations. Use the Product Codes form, Distribution Account Maintenance Inventory tab to define distribution accounts for a grouping of items.

The Sales/COGS accounts are used for discounts and cost of goods sold for customer orders. Use the Product Codes form to define distribution accounts for a grouping of items.

The Actions menu includes these options:

  • Delete: Removes the current Distribution Account record, including the default account, with a blank warehouse and a blank product code. If an item exists that uses the account to be deleted, a warning message displays. Click OK to delete the account record. Once the account record is deleted, any CO items that reference the product code associated with the deleted Distribution Account may not be shipped. Chart of Account records used in the Distribution Account record cannot be deleted.
