APS Planning by Charge
Charges are items that are consumed by other demands immediately after being manufactured. Because the charge item cannot be stocked for later use, the APS Planner must process them differently.
- Job orders that produce charge items are planned as normal.
- Demands for charge items cannot be satisfied from inventory. Instead, they must be tied to existing job supply orders, or they must create new PLNs.
- Demands for charge items must be planned to use the supply of the item as close, in time, as possible to the end date of the job supply. This is accomplished by push planning demand orders from the supply date of their corresponding charge item supply.
- Only manufactured items can be identified as charges.
- Safety stock is ignored for all charge items.
- Charge items are not stocked, produced, or consumed at distribution warehouses.
- If job orders with component requirements for charge items are not cross-referenced to their supply orders, a warning message states that you the charge item requirement will be ignored by the Planner.
- Time fences are ignored for charge items.
