About What-If Planning and Scheduling
During your planning analysis, you may need to investigate corrective actions before executing them within the current production plan and schedule. An alternative specifies the data that drives a run of the APS Planner or Scheduler. Each alternative represents a scenario to be analyzed. Typically, you will design several alternatives to investigate a set of viable options.
You can switch between analyzing Planner or Scheduler data by selecting Planner or Scheduler from the button on each analysis screen. Planner is the APS program that generates synchronized manufacturing plans. Scheduler is the APS program (apssrvr.exe) that optimally sequences operations to produce a realistic production schedule.
You can create "what-if" scenarios with copies of your production data, make adjustments to the data, and then analyze the results to determine whether the scenario is feasible. Use these forms to analyze alternate planning data:
