To view a document (file) that is attached to a form, property on a
form, or a record in a collection on a form:
-
Open a form.
-
Click the Display documents for the
current object icon in the tool bar, or select.
This information about each attached document is displayed, to help
you find the appropriate document:
- The document name; the sequence, which indicates the order
in which the document (file) was attached to the record; and a
description of the document
- The document type and storage method, which are defined on
the Document Types form
- The file specification, file extension, and media type, which
are also defined on the Document Types
form
- Internal, which indicates that
the attached document cannot be accessed through the portals
- Suspend with Workflows, which
is used with Application Event System workflows
-
If there are many attached documents, click Filter
and specify filter criteria to display the filtered list of documents
in the Find Documents grid.
-
Select the document you want to view.
Note: When
you select an image file from the list, a preview is displayed. If
a preview is not displayed the first time, navigate away from the
current record and back to the record.
-
Click View.
For most documents, the file is opened for viewing. For URL
document types, the default browser opens the specified URL.
The document is opened with the application that is associated with
the attachment's file extension, as specified in the Document
Types form.
Optionally, you can click Export to export
documents from the linked file system. URL document types cannot be exported.
