User Preferences, Event System Options
These options are found on the Event System tab of the User Preferences window:

Check for New Messages Every | Select the time interval at which the system is to check your Inbox for new messages. |
Play a Sound | Select this
option to play the specified .wav file to notify you of a new message.
To select the sound, click the ellipsis (...) button and select the .wav file to use. If you do not select a .wav file, the system plays a default .wav file. To hear the selected .wav file, click .Note: If you are using a remote desktop connection to log on
to the system, you cannot hear this sound when it plays. For this reason, you
should use this option only if you are logged in to the system locally.

Display an Icon in the Notification Area | (Default option)
Select this option to display an envelope icon in the Windows task bar
notification area whenever new messages are received. This icon displays only
if you are logged in to the system.
When this icon appears in the taskbar, you can double-click it to open the Inbox form and view your messages. The system hides this icon when you double-click it to open the Inbox form, or when you refresh the Inbox form to display all new messages. |
Display an Alert with Message Count | Select this
option to display an alert message in a "balloon" above the Windows taskbar
notifications area, every time a new message arrives in your
Inbox, . This message lets you know both
that you have new messages and how many new messages you have received since
the last alert.
When you select this option, you can also use the Alert duration slider to control how long each alert message is displayed. This slider uses a scale from 10 to 30 seconds, in 5-second increments. Selecting this option also enables the button. To see a sample of the message that is displayed, click this button and watch the lower right corner of your screen. |
Display unread messages using Boldface Font | Select this option to show any unread messages in your Inbox using a bold font in the grid (top) view. This allows you to easily distinguish read and unread messages. |
Display unread messages using Background Color | Select this
option to show any unread messages against the specified background color, as
displayed in the color square to the right of this option.
By default, the background color is the same as the Normal background color. See Run Time Settings. To select a different background color for unread messages, click inside the color box and use the color picker dialog box. |
Handler Editing | Use the options in this field to determine how metadata is displayed in the Event Actions form and the behavior of the Event Handler Diagram form. You can choose to interact with these forms either in Novice mode or in Expert mode. |
