Script search wildcards
One search option for code in the WinStudio script editor is to do a " " search. This option uses simple search patterns to locate the text.
When using this option, the search engine recognizes these wildcard patterns:
Wildcard characters | Description |
---|---|
* | This character
specifies zero or more of any character, except the line feed character.
For example, if you specify *; as the wildcard pattern, the search matches any C# using statement. |
? | This character
specifies any single character, except the line feed character.
For example, if you specify code? as the wildcard pattern, the search would match coded, codes, and coder, but not coding. |
# | This character specifies any single numeric digit. |
[ aeiou ] | This construct
matches any one character in the specified set of characters.
For example, if you specify [aeiou] as the wildcard pattern, the search would match the words "what", "where", and "how", but not the word "why". |
[! aeiou ] | This construct
matches any one character that is not in the specified set of characters.
For example, if you specify [!s] as the wildcard pattern, the search would match the word "photograph" but not the word "photographs". |
