Matching Components Tab, Merge Options
A matching component is a customized component in the Target configuration for which there is a corresponding component on the same form in the Source configuration. The components match in the sense that they have the same name in both the Target and the Source.
Settings on the Matching Components tab control how attributes of matching components are handled in the synchronization process. You can retain customized attributes or replace them.
- To retain the customized version of the merged form in the Target,
select the check box for an attribute, such as Component
class.
- To have Form Sync prompt you about whether to keep a given customized version of the attribute or to replace it with the base version from the Source, select the Prompt check box for the attribute.
- To have Form Sync keep customized versions automatically without prompting, clear the Prompt check box for the attribute.
- To have Form Sync replace the customized version of an attribute with the base-level version from the Source configuration, clear the check box for that attribute.
When this option is selected, the replacement occurs automatically without prompting.

By default, check boxes for all attributes are selected so that all customized attributes are retained on the merged version of the customized form in the Target configuration.
By default, Prompt check boxes for some component attributes are cleared so that customized versions of these attributes are retained automatically on the merged form in the Target configuration. These are basic component attributes that can be customized by users with Basic editing permissions. Customizations to these attributes normally do not affect a form's functionality.
Prompt check boxes for all Major component attributes are selected so that you are prompted about whether to keep or replace customized versions of the attributes on the merged form in the Target configuration. Major component attributes can be customized by users with Full User or Site Developer editing permissions.
